Bowen pens pro deal

Young striker Reiss Bowen has been rewarded with his first professional contract after turning 17 last month.

The youngster has been at Wolves since an under-15 having arrived from Fleetwood Town in the summer of 2023.

Bowen had been with Town’s academy for seven years, progressing through the ranks as a local talent before moving to the Old Gold at the age of 15.

He signed a two-year scholarship with the club earlier in the year and, after making a positive return from injury, is now looking to kick on as an under-18.

Academy manager for football, Jon Hunter-Barrett, said: “Reiss came to us from Fleetwood with high hopes of potential regarding his athleticism, his ability to manage the ball and score in front of goal. It was important for us to reward that.

“He has had an up and down time in terms of injury having unfortunately suffered a long-term injury which sidelined him for a period of time. But, since coming back into the under-18s, he’s applied himself really well to get fit and more game time under his belt.

“Credit to Reiss and his family, he has shown excellent focus and mentality to stick to his plan, get through a difficult time and we’re delighted with his character and the resilience that he’s shown.

“In the coming months, I’m really looking forward to seeing him excel, return to full fitness and full capacity and really start to define his future.”
