The latest episode of Wolves Unpacked is out now, as hosts Dave Edwards and James Bird look back at the final games of 2024 as the Old Gold claimed four points from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Going on a deep dive into the tactics and intricacies of the matches which rounded out another year for Wolves, as Vitor Pereira's time as head coach began unbeaten thanks to the 2-0 win over Man United on Boxing Day, before the draw away at Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
The latest episode of Wolves Unpacked sees the pair analyse how the defence has stepped up since Pereira has come into the side, while discussing how Matt Doherty has been able to transition from a right wing-back into a right centre-back using the vast knowledge he already possesses from playing in a five-man defence.
Edwards and Bird also discuss the impact Matheus Cunha made against United, not only in an attacking sense, but also his work off the ball which has seen him cover for his teammates in defence, and debate whether the Brazilian could be classed as one of the best attacking players in Wolves history. Edwards also explains just how difficult a skill it is to score directly from a corner.
The pair chat about the midfield options Pereira has to his disposal, how Tommy Doyle has been pushing for a starting spot with his displays under the Portuguese and Edwards gives his take on what it's like to not be a first choice midfielder and what the England under-21 international can do to get himself into reckoning.
There was also discussion around the Spurs draw, with Bird outlining the positives which came out of the visit to north London as Wolves showed a different side of themselves to battle back and fight - having rotated a few of their attacking options following a busy Christmas period, and how difficult it is to pull off a goal straight from the training ground.
