Some of Wolves’ most high-profile faces have joined the fan base in wishing the club’s greatest ever goal scorer Steve Bull a happy 60th birthday through an 'Ode to Bully'.
The likes of Robert Plant and Suzi Perry have joined supporters, former players and journalists in putting a face, and voice, to a unique video captured for the legendary striker’s milestone.
The piece centres around a bespoke poem crafted by comedian and screenwriter, and big Old Gold supporter, Tom Parry, and turned into a visual celebration, with each line read out by a different Wolves personality.

Captured around Wolverhampton, in some of the city’s most iconic spots, including Molineux of course, the Wolves Studios production provides a celebration for Bully’s big occasion on Friday 28th March 2025.
In the piece, vice-president Plant and TV presenter Perry stand alongside the likes of Don Goodman and Andy Thompson, two of Bull’s most treasured teammates, in paying tribute.
Commentator Bill Hatton and Midlands Today reporter Nick Owen both covered Wolves and ‘Bully’ during his heyday and contribute to the piece too.
Similarly, journalist David Instone saw many of Bull’s 306 Wolves goals live, as did Daz Hale of BBC West Midlands, and they both feature, providing a face to the words and voice of those who’ve covered the club over the years.
They join a group of supporters, which included Alan Blount, the fan who famously grabbed Bull through the changing room window to celebrate Wolves reaching the 1988 Sherpa Van Trophy final – a photo which captured the era perfectly.
A wide range of other Old Gold supporters, from various walks of life, bringing life and character to the carefully constructed words of lifelong fan, Parry.
Parry said: “For a fan of my age, there’s no Wolverhampton Wanderers without Steve Bull. They’re intrinsically linked and always will be. My very first game I was sat in the John Ireland Stand and we beat Portsmouth 5-0 and Bully scored two. It just felt like every time I came down to the Molineux, it was to watch Steve Bull score a goal and it felt like he never let you down.
“I really can’t remember in those early seasons being here and him not scoring. At the time you don’t think of it as something incredibly special, you kind of take it for granted, but it’s an unbelievable story.
“Honestly, from a personal point of view, it was one of the most special things I’ve been asked to do. It’s been an absolute dream, so it’s right up there. I’m just nervous that Bully’s going to hear it, so I hope he likes it. It’s been amazing.”
