A lot of talk surrounded the Wolves team heading into the Six Invitational. None more so than their apparent inability to win best of three (BO3) games, having failed to do so at the past two major tournaments. The Six Invitational is almost completely made up of BO3 games and it was thought the Wolves would struggle.
This looked to be the case when the group stage got underway with the Wolves losing their first BO3 game against fellow EU side MNM Gaming. This was made worse as they suffered another BO3 loss against North American team Soniqs.
But it was here the narrative would change.
The Wolves went up against the team Dire Wolves and walked away with a 2-0 victory and their first BO3 this season. But it didn’t stop there as they faced off against one of the tournament favourites, Team Liquid next. The pack put the South American giants to bed 2-1 to advance from the group stage in third place, qualifying for the upper bracket.
It was there that G2 Esports picked Wolves as their next opponent with the thought being they could easily claim the BO3 against a team who, until recently, had struggled in that environment.
How wrong they were.
The Wolves were hungry and devoured G2 with a clean 2-0 win knocking them into the lower bracket. The pack went on to face LOS oNe and, again, claimed the 2-0 victory.
Next up, the semi-final and another North American team, Oxygen Esports. The pack lost this series 2-1 and were knocked down to the lower bracket where they faced an old foe seeking revenge, G2 Esports.
After the Wolves took the first map with a dominating performance G2 eventually walked away with the victory, 2-1 and a spot in the lower semi-final and, eventually, went on to win the tournament itself.
Wolves’ performance at the Six Invitational was something not many people expected from this French speaking roster. A team so dominant in their domestic league but seemed to be found lacking when international tournaments came around.
However, this performance on the biggest stage of all has not just won them support and new fans in countries around the world, but it has also forced the Rainbow Six Siege community to sit up and take note. The Wolves aren’t here to play, they’re here to win.

- Finishing first place in the European League overall standings for the season.
- Claiming top six at the Six Invitational.
