Charting the key moments in Jackson Tchatchoua's career which made him the player he is today.
Senior debut
24th July 2021 | KV Oostende 0-3 Royal Charleroi SC
Born in Belgium, Tchatchoua came up through the ranks of Standard Liege, OH Leuven and Charleroi, and it was with the latter where he would go on to make the breakthrough to senior football. Having impressed with the youth side, he was thrust into the limelight at the start of the 2021/22 season, coming off the bench in the opening game of the Belgian First Division A campaign away at Oostende. Charleroi were three goals to the good when Tchatchoua was given the opportunity off the bench for the final three minutes, replacing Jules Van Cleemput at right wing-back.
First goal
16th December 2021 | KRC Genk 4-2 Royal Charleroi SC
Tchatchoua found himself in and out of the Charleroi side during his debut season, but that didn’t stop him from recording two assists in a game to beat Belgian giants Gent 3-2 in just his seventh league outing. During a spell in the side towards the end of 2021, the wing-back found the back of the net for the first time in senior football, as he opened the scoring away to Genk. However, the hosts would eventually secure the three points with four goals either side of half-time. Tchatchoua would go on to end his first season as a professional with 34 appearances in all competitions.
First Serie A assist
8th September 2023 | Frosinone Calcio 2-1 Hellas Verona
Following two seasons with Charleroi, Tchatchoua made the move to one of the big five European leagues, as he joined Serie A side Hellas Verona on a season long loan, and he had a debut to remember. After recovering from a neck injury which had delayed his start to life in Verona, Tchatchoua came off the bench with seven minutes remaining when his team were 2-0 down away to Frosinone Calcio, and moments later, put in a pinpoint cross for Milan Djuric to head home and provide a nervy end to the contest. His loan became permanent at the end of the season.
International debut
8th June 2024 | Cameroon 4-1 Cape Verde
Belgian born, but with French citizenship from his parents, Tchatchoua is also of Cameroonian descent and opted to represent the Indomitable Lions at international level. He received his first call-up to represent Cameroon’s under-23s in March 2023, but didn’t get onto the pitch, but his performances in Serie A led to a senior international debut in July 2024 as he started at right-back in a 4-1 victory over Cape Verde, in which Vincent Aboubakar netted twice. Tchatchoua has since notched another 15 caps with his most recent seeing him captain Cameroon against China in March.
Serie A record
27th January 2025 | Venezia 1-1 Hellas Verona
Playing almost every minute of the first six months of his second year in Serie A, Tchatchoua scored his first goal in the division to help Verona to a 2-0 win away at Girona, before his second came in a 1-1 draw in Venice. But during that goal which help his side come from behind to secure a point, Tchatchoua also set a Serie A record, which still stands today. The right-back showcased his blistering pace by sprinting almost the entire length of the pitch to latch onto an Amin Sarr pass and find the net. During that run, he racked up a top speed of 36.3 kph, making him the fastest ever player in the league.
