After falling to successive defeats following the international break, Wolves will be looking to get back to winning ways with a trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley on Friday night.
Roll call
Cesar Peixoto confirmed that Adam Armstrong has been ruled out of the trip to Turf Moor with a back issue. It means he joins fellow striker Raul Jimenez in the treatment room, with the Mexican set for surgery on his knee on Friday. Rodrigo Gomes is out with a short-term ankle issue, while Bertrand Traore hasn’t recovered from a hamstring injury in time and Boubacar Traore remains absent too.
Burnley will be without Anel Ahmedhodzic on Friday night, with the defender sidelined for 12 days due to concussion protocols following Tuesday night’s game. The Clarets will welcome back Dastan Satpayev, who is back from injury, but was prevented from playing in the week by his parent club Chelsea. Josh Cullen and Jaydon Banel are getting closer to fitness, but the game comes too soon. Elsewhere, Zeki Amdouni, Jordan Beyer, Bashir Humphreys, Hannibal, Aaron Ramsey, Mike Tresor, Shurandy Sambo and Michael Obafemi have all been sidelined recently.

The form guide
Wolves were in positive form heading into the recent international break after picking up successive wins against Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion which left the team three points behind leaders Swansea City with a game in hand. However, back-to-back defeats during the last six days, a 1-0 away loss at Middlesbrough before a first home defeat of the season saw Wolves fall 3-1 to Bolton Wanderers, has dropped Peixoto’s men out of the play-off positions.
Having been relegated from the Premier League alongside Wolves last season, Burnley did not have a good start to life back in the Championship. Nicky Hayen’s side lost four of their opening eight games of 2026/27, but have began picking up results following the extended September/October international break, thanks to a first win of the season on Saturday saw the Clarets put four past Watford without reply before a 90+6-minute equaliser for Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night denied the Burnley fans a long-awaited three points at Turf Moor.
The past with Burnley
Turf Moor hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Wolves for many a year, with the hosts coming out on top four of the last eight matches that have been played between the two teams in Lancashire, while the other four have ended in 1-1 draws – which was the case on the final day of last season. Wolves did taste success in Burnley back in March 2010, giving their battle against Premier League relegation a big boost, as Matt Jarvis and a Clarke Carlise own goal secured the three points for Wolves, with Steven Thompson’s 73rd minute effort ending up as a consolation for the Clarets.
After the game, Mick McCarthy spoke about how the result helped the Old Gold’s chances of survival: “It's tightened it up again with West Ham and Wigan losing and it gives us more of a fighting chance, a bit of confidence. We've been playing well and I said if we keep playing that way our luck will change. I knew we would get a slice of good fortune by playing that way.”
