Despite battling hard at the London Stadium, they were unable to get back to winning ways and Kilman felt the loss was tough to take on the players, who will be working hard to turn their fortunes around ahead of a trip to Chelsea next weekend.
On loss to West Ham
“It’s tough to take. We started off quite well, on the front foot, and we had a few chances which we didn’t take. Then they got their goal, kind of camped in and defended quite well, and we couldn’t quite find the back of the net.
“As a club we want to win games and go higher up the table because that’s where we feel we belong. We need to keep going and get back on the training pitch and go again for next week.”
On playing alongside Neves in defence
“I think Neves did really well. He looked very well and did very well, but whoever played in there I needed to make sure I did my job and helped them out. I tried to do my best but today just wasn’t our day.”
On Diego Costa’s debut
“He’s got a very good personality and of course he’s a very top player for what he’s done in the past. But he’s still got it and he can still do very well.
“He came on, he affected the game and held the ball up really well, so I’m excited to see him play more.”
On missing players for Chelsea trip
“That’s part and parcel of football. We need to deal with what comes and whenever there are people who are injured or suspended, whoever comes in needs to do their job and I’m sure they will.”
