Matt Hobbs has praised the impact Conor Coady has had on Wolves during his time at Molineux as the defender brings an eight-year spell at the club to an end.
With the centre-back joining Leicester City ahead of the 2023/24 Championship season, Wolves’ sporting director has thanked Coady for the efforts he put in on the pitch when wearing the gold and black with pride, but also off the pitch, as he played an important role behind the scenes as captain.
On Coady’s attitude and character
“Conor is probably the best man I’ve ever met – in or out of football. I’ve never met someone so well regarded and liked by so many people and it’s a testament to him as a person.
“But as well as being a brilliant person, he has also been a brilliant servant to our football club and someone who will be missed by everyone at Wolves.”

On his move to Leicester
“There has been a lot of mixed emotions when we’ve been arranging a deal like this one because everyone at the football club would have wanted him to stay.
“But we also have to appreciate that it’s a fantastic deal for the club and a fantastic deal for Conor with the length of term he’ll get at Leicester.
“It’s been a bittersweet deal, but one that is beneficial to everyone involved.”
On Coady’s impact in Old Gold
“In many ways, Conor has defined what it means to be a Wolves player, especially in this new Wolves era under Fosun.
“Throughout the last seven years, he has been the person who has really helped to drive the club on and has done everything we could ever have asked from him.
“Everything we are, everything we look for in a player and everything we want to represent as a football club, Conor has epitomised that and has been the driving force behind it.”
On being a key part of the pack
“We know what Conor offers a team as a player and as a man, so he is going to be a great asset for Leicester.
“On and off the pitch he is the ultimate professional, so he will always be welcome back at Molineux and he will always be part of the pack because what he has given to the club during his time here should always been remembered.
“Everyone at the club wishes him the very best for the future.”
