Neto | 'Even with one man less, we wanted the win'

Although admitting he wanted three points on Saturday, Pedro Neto took heart from the team spirit on show which helped earn a battling draw.

Pedro Neto’s brilliant, individual goal had 10-man Wolves in front five minutes after the break, but a Carlton Morris penalty had the hosts back level with 25 left to play. From that point Wolves were resolute, battling for every ball, and Neto believes that attitude to defend the point will stand the Old Gold in good stead moving forward.

On an eventful afternoon

“We showed as a group what we can do. Coming here, it’s a difficult pitch, and we knew it would be a tough game. In the first half Jean [Ricner Bellegarde] had the red card but we showed that we are a team, we showed what we can do. After we scored the goal, it was the penalty and I didn’t see the images, so I won’t say anything about it, but we have to start from here. We have to continue as a team and show the group we are.”

On showing steel

“It was a test for us. We showed as a group that we are strong, we had some difficult fixtures in the first matches, and we showed the team we are. Even with one man less, of course we wanted the win. I think for most of the teams who come here, it’ll be a tough game, because they have a good side. We get one point and will continue to work.”

On digging in for a point

“Of course, we always want to win, the mentality is always to win, but we have to be honest. We had one less man and when we scored we felt we could take the win because they didn’t have that chance to win the game, they were playing, but we had consistency in defending, but with the penalty they scored the goal.”

On his personal form

“It was a difficult injury, I had two difficult injuries in the last years, but I love to do what I do. But I work hard, I work for the team, and I think we will continue to work hard and I hope to continue to get better.”
