Following his stunning brace to earn Wolves their first away win since February, Matheus Cunha believes the squad has what it takes to move up the Premier League table.
The Brazilian put on a show against Fulham as he got found the net his fifth and sixth goals of the season either side of half time, as well as setting up Joao Gomes to score Wolves’ second of the afternoon, and Cunha is hoping the team’s run of two wins and two draws from their last four outings are just the start of what will end up being a successful campaign in Old Gold.
On a second win of the season
“It's so good. How we started the season was not how we wanted, but of course we need to keep going like this in the future.
“We did the work, we did the details and now we’re four games without losing, with two draws and two wins, so we can start to be happy.”
On his two impressive goals
“I think they are the best two goals I’ve scored in the same game. They were two very good, beautiful goals in the middle of the game.
“You don't think about the quality of the goals, you know, all you want to do is to score and help the team. But of course, now I’m a little bit calmer, but I think it was two unbelievable decisions for me, and I'm happy with these kinds of things.”
On coping with defensive injuries
“I always say something about the group, the gaffer, the staff, we believe a lot. When it happens, those kinds of things, we know the potential for everyone.
“We knew Mario would cover one space for us, and he was unbelievable. I started joking with him after saying that he’s a centre-back now – we don't need to change it!
“But, of course, everyone played very well, I'm so happy with the result and I think it showed a lot about the character of the group.

On having the whole squad fighting together
“Football is the same in every single group, when the results are not coming, everyone is sad and a little bit more upset.
“But when you start to get the guys going, Rodrigo played, and I think there was a lot of changes there, but that showed the group has a lot of character, everyone's together, and it's much more than just about the first 11, the whole group is together, and when this happens, we can do much more things.”
On being fully behind O’Neil
“Of course, we never have doubt about this. He did a lot of good things for us last season, and then we started to build an unbelievable relationship. But, of course, football is like life, everyone knows that it’s the results which matter in the end.
“But the work that you show is as much important for me, for the group and for everyone. We are very happy with him and we are very happy with the results. I hope now we can start to fight for the things we want.”
