Toti | 'We need to keep believing'

Toti insists Wolves are going to keep building under Vitor Pereira as they go into this weekend’s visit to Liverpool off the back of two successive wins – the most recent secured passage into the fifth round of the FA Cup at the expense of Blackburn Rovers.

Since the Portuguese defender has been working under Pereira, Wolves have won all four games he has featured in and have also not conceded a single goal, and Toti believes that the professional performances the Old Gold are now producing will see them in good stead for the rest of this season.

On progressing into the fifth round

“It was very professional. We knew we had to come here and respect the opponent, and we did that. We knew it was not going to be an easy game, so no one could relax in the game, and that's what we did, that's what the coach asked us to do, and that's what we train during the week for.

“It's not because it's not Premier League that you can relax, and I think everybody did their best, and that's why we we’re getting out from here with the win. It was not easy.

“When we arrived here, the pitch was frozen and we knew it was not going to be an easy game with the wind and all that, but the weather is the same for both teams, so we needed to do our best and we did that. We respected the opponent and we played a good football match today.”

On important timing of the goals

“The first goal was very important, but even more the second one, it kind of relaxed us a little bit more, but we knew that it’s not because we scored the second goal that the game is done.

“We kept respecting the opponent and we were keeping trying to score more and more. Unfortunately, we didn't score more, but we had a lot of chances. Of course we wanted more, and you saw we had so many chances.

“The players were doing their best to keep scoring and scoring, but I’m proud of all the guys. We leave here with two goals, but it’s very good.”

On running the ball out of defence

“It was a different moment in the game there, but this is what we train on. Sometimes these chances can happen and the coaches just ask us to go forward, go with everything, because we always know we are going to have someone in the back covering the space, so it's all about confidence.”

On two wins building confidence

“The first was the Premier League game [against Aston Villa], now the cup game, two wins in a row. It’s very important to build the confidence for all the players and it's good to change some players too, so everyone can have some minutes and have some more confidence.

“I’m happy for Marshall, too today, he did his first game for us, he did his best and he’s getting his confidence, and it's all about that.”

On going far in the cup

“We need to keep believing. Of course, we want to go as far as possible, and we're still in two competitions, the Premier League and the FA Cup, so we're going to keep facing game by game and always keep doing our best to make the fans happy as well.”
