David Moller Wolfe cannot wait to get back out onto the Molineux pitch for a Premier League match after enjoying his first outing in a gold and black shirt against Celta Vigo on Saturday.
The Norwegian defender played the opening 45 minutes in Wolves’ final pre-season friendly of the summer having made the move from AZ Alkmaar seven days previously, and as he continues to build up fitness ahead of his first Premier League season, Wolfe is excited about the prospect of a rocking Molineux for the match against Manchester City next weekend.
On a first game for Wolves
“It felt amazing. I’ve been waiting for a long time now to put on the Wolves shirt and to do it and to meet the fans for the first time was an unbelievable feeling. I’m very proud of it.
“It looks even better with the fans, and I’m sure it will look even better on Saturday when it’s full.”
On coming off at half time
“It was already decided before the game that I was only going to play 45 minutes because it’s been a long time for me since I last played. It’s been about three, three-and-a-half weeks since I played, so it wouldn’t have been smart to risk anything, but I’m all good.
“If the coach puts me in the starting line-up, I’ll be ready, and I’ll do everything I can.”
On his first week as an Old Gold player
“It’s been very good. Everyone in the club and outside of the club has been so welcoming. I feel incredibly welcomed and wanted by the club, so it’s been amazing.
“Having Jorgen [Strand Larsen] here has helped me settle. I can ask him questions about the club, how things work, what the rules are inside of the playing squad and everything like that.
“But there’s also many Spanish talking people in the club, and also myself growing up in Spain, I feel it’s been quite easy for me to talk to everyone, and it’s really helped a lot.
“All that’s missing now is a house and a car, and then I’ll be all sorted.”
On needing time to adapt on the pitch
“I want to get out there and show what I can do but also, I need time to be completely comfortable and confident in the position that I play, because it’s a bit of a different position what I’ve been playing the last couple of years.
“But I think it’s a position that suits me incredibly well, and as soon as I get in the rhythm and stuff like that, I don’t only want to go out and play and just be a part of the team, but I want to deliver good things for the club.”
On facing Man City in the Premier League opener
“I’m looking forward to it a lot. I think everyone in the city, every person that loves Wolverhampton, is looking forward to it.”
