Jean-Ricner Bellegarde insists the Wolves players are still trying to give supporters something to smile about ahead of Molineux’s final Premier League match of the season.
As the end of a very difficult season which has seen the Old Gold’s top flight tenure come to an end after eight years approaches its conclusion, Wolves invite Fulham to the Black Country for their final home outing on Sunday afternoon, before rounding out their disappointing campaign by travelling to fellow relegated side Burnley next weekend.
But despite taking just one point from the last four matches since relegation was confirmed, Bellegarde believes there has been no changes among the squad and the players are still trying to give everything to pick up as many points as possible before the season ends and take momentum and positivity into the summer.
On aiming to end on a high
“It’s obviously been a difficult season for everyone because we didn’t win a lot of games, and we were relegated. But now we need to try to finish good.
“The aim from these last two games now is to just try and play well and see what we can achieve. We all want to finish good.”

On fighting until the end
“Nothing has changed since our relegation was confirmed, and I think the energy has always been the same.
“Obviously, it was very difficult when we were relegated, and for me, it’s the first time I have lived and experienced this, but we still need to try to compete so we can finish the season well.”
On bouncing back from last weekend
“It was a really difficult game [against Brighton]. I feel everyone wanted to play good, but sometimes when you’re in the situation we are in, you try to play, but when you conceded a goal early in the game, it makes it even more difficult to get back.”

On facing Fulham at Molineux
“None of the games in the Premier League are easy now, we know that, but we’re playing at home and we all need to finish these last two games good.
“We’re going to play to win the game. We’re also going to be back in front of our home fans for the last time this season and they haven’t had much to smile about this year, so it’s something we want to do for them.”
On playing for the fans
“It’s been difficult [to play at Molineux this season] and it’s been tough for the fans to keep supporting the team when we haven’t been winning games, so I understand this.
“But we want to win for the fans because we could see it when we play away that the fans have been coming every time to support the team and we want to try to play good for the fans.”
