Andre | 'I want to be a part of the present and the future of the club'

After signing a new four-year contract at Molineux, Andre is determined to help Wolves bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking and write his name into Old Gold history.

The Brazilian international has committed his long-term future to Wolves and will get a first taste of Championship football next season as he continues to be a key figure in the heart of Rob Edwards’ team.

Although Andre admits his relationship with the head coach played an important role in his decision to remain at Wolves, he is also extremely excited with the plans the club have in place for next season and beyond, with the midfielder wanting to make history in gold and black.

On putting pen to paper

“I’m very happy to sign a new contract here. I’m very happy to be signing this contract with this club because it’s a club that I really like, and I love being here.

“It’s been a tough season, and during this difficult period that this season has been, I think it's now up to the players and coaches to do their part, and now I just want to work as hard as possible to come back to the Premier League.”

On committing his future to Wolves

“I want to say thank you to the club for the confidence they have in me and I’m very proud to be here. Now I need to help more inside the pitch. We’re going to face a difficult competition in the Championship, as it’s a very hard tournament, but we all need to be at our best to win the games.

“We need to work more, and we need to give more of ourselves every day. I think Rob has a good plan for us, and he will help us a lot as players. Now we need to just work hard to come back to the Premier League.”

On not repeating previous mistakes

“I feel very comfortable here. I love to be here, and I want to help the club as much as I can. This club deserves to be in the Premier League, the supporters deserve to be in the Premier League.

“Now it’s about the players, because the players need to do more to help the club. Everything that happened in this season, cannot happen again in the Championship. Now, we just need to work, just need to fight to win the games.”

On his relationship with Edwards being crucial

“Well, about Rob – ‘Gaffer’ – he gives me a lot of confidence, so I am very grateful to him for everything he has done for me since he arrived, and I really hope to help on the pitch.

“I really want to help him. He’s a sensational guy who deserves to take the club back to the Premier League.

“With the players who are coming in, I believe it will be a very strong squad in which he will have complete control of the situation. I hope that our team can return to the Premier League and may we have many happy years at Wolverhampton.”

On Wolves’ plans for the summer

“Rob said he has complete confidence in me and he promised me that he was going to build a very competitive team this season, that the club is only thinking about returning to the Premier League this season.

“I am very happy for all the trust that he has given me and for all the conversations. I believe we will have a great team not only for this year, but for the coming seasons as well.”

On his excitement for the future

“I really want to be a part of the present and the future of the club. They’re giving me this support so I can stay with the club and make it a competitive team.

“The most important thing is that we’re not only competitive for next year, but for future ones too, and then we have everything to make a great team and continue making history here at the club.”
