After signalling his intention to stay at Wolves despite the club’s relegation to the Championship, Andre insists he has full confidence that the team can bounce straight back up to the Premier League.
The Brazilian international put pen to paper on a new four-year deal at Molineux ahead of the final game of the season away to Burnley last weekend, committing his future to a club which is beginning a rebuild as it approaches its 150th anniversary year.
Ahead of what everyone associated with Wolves hopes will be a special milestone season, Andre knows that positive change in mindset as well as to the playing staff is going to be vital if they are to achieve their aims this time next year.
On an important summer ahead
“It was a very difficult start to the season, when we made some mistakes. These were mistakes made during the pre-season that we cannot afford to make now. This next season is going to be a little different. Our coach will have the team under control from the start, so I think it has all the ingredients for a different start than last season.
“I have complete confidence. I think our team is fully capable of doing this. I think it’s a matter of having a good pre-season, having the right players remain and getting new players in early, and that will help a lot.
“Our team will come back stronger. I believe they will bring some players who will help us. I have full confidence that we can return to the Premier League.”

On confidence in returning to the Premier League
“Rob and the coaches give a lot of confidence to us. Rob told me that they will bring in new players and they have a good plan for us, so I’m here to help him, I’m here to help all the players.
“I know this is a difficult moment now, going to play in the Championship, but now we need to work together, all the staff, all the players, and the players that continue here need to work more, they need to give more to the club, and to the other players that can come in and help us, we all need to work together next season to bring Wolves back to the Premier League.”
On announcing his intentions to stay on Twitch
“I like this contact with the supporters and the fans, because they are unbelievable. All the game, they give so much support for us, and I feel very happy for this support, and I just want to give back to the supporters, to play a lot, and come back to the Premier League again because they deserved it.
“For me, it’s very important to have this contact with the supporters. I want to just help the team, and I like being here with them. I like the city, the club, so I want to just help bring Wolves back to the Premier League.”

On being at home in Wolverhampton
“I feel at home here, man. Obviously, it’s very different to what I was used to in Rio. There it’s very sunny, very hot, lots of beaches, lots of foot tennis, and you end up having a lot of things to do. It’s a bit cold here, and that’s the big difference.
“But the games here at home are sensational, the crowd give us all the support they can, so we feel good. They welcome us very well both at home and away.
“I’m very well adapted here, with the city, with the club, the affection of the supporters, so I think everything is in place for this season to go well.”
On the important role fans play
“For me, the most important people next season will be the fans. We need the supporters to support us and the players need the give our best to bring the supporters to the stadium.
“I want to say thank you for supporting us this season, because every game they were present at the games, so I want to say thank you and sorry, but next season we need to be together to help the Wolves.”
