Internationals | Munetsi scores again for Zimbabwe

Marshall Munetsi was among the goals for his country once again during the latest batch of international matches involving members of Cesar Peixoto's Wolves squad.

The Zimbabwean was one of nine Old Gold players who featured on the international stage this week, although his goal came as a consolation in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Fer Lopez was the only international call-up from Molineux not to take to the pitch this week so there is plenty of action to go through on the latest round-up.

Tawanda Chirewa & Marshall Munetsi | Zimbabwe 1-2 DR Congo

Despite Munetsi's added time consolation strike for Zimbabwe - adding to the brace he scored in the win over Sierra Leone earlier in the break - it was an historic goal for his country, as it was Zimbabwe's first back at their National Sports Stadium in six years. After being banned from hosting matches by the African confederation in 2020, Zimbabwe have been forced to play their recent home games in neighbouring countries, but after renovations have been made to the stadium, they returned to their home ground on Monday. And it was the Wolves midfielder - once again lining up with his club colleague Tawanda Chirewa - who scored the first Zimbabwean goal back at the stadium in the closing stages of the 2-1 loss to DR Congo, leaving the team in second place in AFCON qualification Group E.

Nasser Djiga | Central African Republic 0-1 Burkina Faso

Later on Monday evening, Nasser Djiga replicated his impressive club form on the international stage for Burkina Faso, as he put in another dominating defensive display to help his country to a clean sheet away in the Central African Republic. Djiga played the entire 90 minutes as his side claimed a 1-0 victory. The match got Burkina Faso back on winning ways in their AFCON qualification campaign, sitting joint top of Group F with Benin after their draw last week.

Ghislain Konan | Somalia 0-2 Ivory Coast

The AFCON qualifiers for this month were rounded out by Ghislain Konan's Ivory Coast on Tuesday night, and it was another clean sheet for the Wolves defender. So often a solid presence at left-back for his country, the Ivorian was at it again in Somalia as his side secured a 2-0 win thanks to goals in the 89th and 90+5th minutes. Konan was lining up alongside former Old Gold defender Emmanuel Agbadou and will be hoping to secure comfotable passage into AFCON 2027 with two wins from their opening two Group C matches.

Ladislav Krejci | Czech Republic 0-2 England

In his first game back after injury, which had seen him miss the Black Country derby and Czechia's opening Nations League match last week, Ladislav Krejci captained his country against England out in Prague. Unfortunately for the defender, who produced a spirited display despite being down to 10 men for the majority of the contest, it was the visitors who claimed the win thanks to goals from Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane, a result which leaves the Czechs with much to do in their second pair of Nations League Group A3 matches over the coming days.

Jordan James | Wales 2-1 Norway

Having lost their opening two Nations League matches last week, Wales and Jordan James have tasted success in game number three with an impressive victory over Norway in Cardiff last night. The Wolves midfielder played 75 minutes in the number 8 role for his country as Wales fought back to win 2-1 having fallen behind to Oscar Bobb's early strike for the Norwegians. Their first Nations League Group A4 win leaves Wales level on points with Norway going into matchday four on Sunday.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde | Dominican Republic 1-4 Haiti

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde has continued to get more minutes into his legs over this international period as he returns to full fitness, playing 82 minutes in Haiti's CONCACAF Nations League win over Dominican Republic. Although he wasn't able to add his second goal for his country, having scored last time out against Costa Rica, Bellegarde was another key performer in the early hours of this morning as braces from Wilson Isidor and Ruben Providence secured a third victory from three Group AA games this week.

Elsewhere

Jackson Tchatchoua was a late substitute for Cameroon as they secured a 1-1 draw with Congo in AFCON qualification on Tuesday, with the defender appearing off the bench for the final 10 minutes, while Mateus Mane also came off the bench on Tuesday for Portugal's under-20s in their UEFA Elite League defeat to Switzerland, as the Swiss claimed a 2-1 win at the Estadio Algarve. Fer Lopez wasn't named in Spain's under-21 squad on Thursday as they ran out 13-0 winners over San Marino in UEFA Euro U21 qualification.

Coming up

Mateus Mane and Portugal under-20s round out their Elite League fixtures for this month at home to the Czech Republic later today (Friday, 3pm) before Ladislav Krejci is expected to lead the Czech Repiblic out for their Nations League visit to Spain on Saturday (7.45pm).

Later tomorrow evening is the battle of two Wolves players, as Ghislain Konan's Ivory Coast take on Jackson Tchatchoua's Cameroon at 8pm in a friendly fixture, while Nasser Djiga could be facing Lionel Messi in Burkina Faso's friendly away to Argentina in the early hours of Sunday morning (1am).

Having fallen to a 2-1 defeat in Copenhagen last week, Jordan James and Wales round off their matches for this month with a Nations League rematch against Denmark on Sunday (7.45pm), before Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Haiti also look to complete their Nations League games for October with four wins from four when taking on Costa Rica in the early hours of Monday (1am).
