Cesar Peixoto was left ruing the fine margins of football after watching his Wolves side fall to defeat at home to Bolton Wanderers in a game at Molineux where missed chances proved costly.
After his team got back on level terms shortly after half time, the game was going Wolves’ way when Adam Armstrong had a golden chance to put the hosts into the lead, but instead he was denied and the momentum swung in Bolton’s direction.
But Peixoto, who said the responsibility of the result is on him, believes his players did more than enough to win the Championship encounter, and feels they know what to do if they are to pick up a positive result against Burnley on Friday night.
On defeat to Bolton
“I think we were the better team, but we didn’t start well. In the first half, we conceded two chances, but after we conceded the goal, we dominated the game, but they scored and we didn’t.
“I want to say that I’m the man responsible for this result. The players worked like I wanted them to, but we have to do better in certain moments of the game. Inside the box, we have to attack the ball and try to score. But like I said, I’m the man responsible.”
On coming out better in the second half
“At half-time, I only corrected two or three things. I told the players to continue like we finished the first half. We pushed Bolton deep and tried to create chances to score, and then we scored to make it 1-1.
“I think the big moment in the game was when Adam [Armstrong] had his shot and their goalkeeper made an amazing save. If we score to make it 2-1, it’s a different game. Then, on two occasions, they came into our midfield and scored.
“We tried everything, down the right, down the left, through the middle – we tried a lot of things. We had more of the ball, more shots, more crosses, more passes, more of everything, but today, we didn’t score. But again, I’m the man responsible.”

On potential foul on Jose Sa for the opener
“I think it’s a foul, but I don’t like to talk about referees. I also think there were two penalties for us, one on Krejci and another on Bellegarde, but I think we can do better, and I’m responsible for that.
“It’s not because of the referee, sometimes referees make mistakes, like we make mistakes. But it’s about us and we can do better and we can score more goals. I think we were the better team, but today we didn’t score enough, and I’m responsible.”
On bouncing back against Burnley
“We can lose, draw or win against any team because it’s a very competitive league. We know what we have to do and we know the team we have.
“We’ve spoken with the players and they know we can do a little better to win these games. All of us have to do better and I think we deserved to win, but today Bolton were more efficient than us.”
