To mark World Environment Day, held annually on 5th June, here’s a round-up of the One Pack, One Planet activities so far this year, which includes Wolves winning a silver sustainability award, fan travel survey results, the sustainability focus fixture and more...
Silver for Sustainability at Football Business Awards
Wolves won Silver in the Sustainability category at this year’s Football Business Awards, announced on Friday 24th May.
The Football Business Awards recognise and reward off-pitch achievements, judged by a panel of industry leaders, influencers and CEOs.
Wolves were celebrated for the wide range of sustainability achievements delivered in the year since launching One Pack, One Planet, which were highlighted within the club’s first environmental sustainability report.
In March, our Grounds Team were also nominated for the 2024 Natural Environment Awards, hosted by the West Midlands Combined Authority, for their work to improve biodiversity and encourage wildlife back to the training ground.
Sustainability Focus Fixture
Back in February, we held this season’s One Pack, One Planet focus fixture at home against Manchester United.
Raising awareness of the club’s sustainability campaign and the need for everyone to play their part, One Pack One Planet messaging featured in the matchday programme, on pin-badges worn by staff and on LED perimeter advertising around Molineux, and vegan options were discounted by 20% to encourage fans to try something new and make a more planet-friendly food choice.
Produce grown at the Wolves Foundation’s Head4Health allotment was used across matchday hospitality menus, meaning that guests including Sir Alex Ferguson were eating food grown less than two miles from the stadium.
Results are in from the Fan Travel Survey
Earlier this year, a fan travel survey was launched to better understand fan habits when travelling to Molineux, New Bucks Head and away games.
Wolves’ latest carbon footprint data shows that the club’s highest emissions are caused by fan travel. The survey findings from over 1,700 fans can now be used to get an updated view on how fans are travelling to matches, improve our carbon footprint calculations and understand how we might be able to influence greener travel.
The results show us that car is still the primary transport mode for 70% of Wolves fans to reach Molineux, though only 49% are driving and the other 21% travel as passengers or in a car share. Arriving by train (17%) and bus (7%) are the other most popular travel modes.
Of those who attend away games, 44% travel primarily by car, while many fans instead choose to travel by train (16%) or coach (12%).
And for Wolves Women fixtures at New Bucks Head, car is the transport mode of choice for 87% of attending fans, with train being the next most popular at 7%.
Reusable cups introduced at Molineux
Drinks at Molineux are now being sold in reusable cups, helping reduce unnecessary plastic waste on matchdays and contributing to reducing the club’s carbon footprint.
In conjunction with the switch, Wolves’ hospitality partners Levy have extended their support for the Wolves Foundation by making donation from the sale of each reusable cup.

Wolves sustainability activities highlighted in new report
A new Environmental Sustainability Report, published in May by Sports Positive Leagues, includes a comprehensive section on Wolves.
The report sets out the environmental activities being undertaken across all 20 Premier League clubs, across categories such as energy, transport and communications.
It replaces the previous green league table, published on BBC Sport, instead highlighting trends and progress from Premier League clubs in a way that is easy to access for “clubs, fans, journalists and anyone in the sports ecosystem”.
The report highlights Wolves as:
- One of 6 Premier League clubs to have net zero targets
- One of 8 clubs that have undertaken fan travel surveys and published the results
- One of 13 clubs that has electricity provided from 100% renewable sources
- One of 16 clubs to have a sustainability page on the club website
