Wolves have enhanced their One Pack, One Planet campaign with the introduction of reusable cups on a matchday at Molineux.
For the past three matchdays at Molineux, drinks have been sold in reusable cups marked ‘One Planet, One Chance’, helping reduce unnecessary plastic waste used on a matchday and contributing to Wolves’ focus on reducing their carbon footprint.
The move comes after Wolves signed up to support the hedgehogs and backed World Wildlife Day in March, while the club revealed their first environmental sustainability report in January, a year on from launching the One Pack, One Planet project.
Thom Rawson, One Pack, One Planet project lead and founder of Sustainable Football, said: “Reducing waste and maximising reuse is a key commitment of our One Pack, One Planet sustainability programme.
“Switching to reusable cups across Molineux reduces avoidable waste whilst also reducing the club's carbon footprint and raising funds for the Foundation. It also contributes to a more sustainable matchday experience for fans, over 80% of which want to see the club taking action.
“This is another positive step towards the club's environmental goals being delivered by Levy, which underlines the importance of working collaboratively with partners to deliver Wolves' sustainability ambitions.”
In conjunction with the move to reusable cups, Wolves’ hospitality partners Levy have extended their support for the Wolves Foundation by making a donation from the sale of each reusable cups.
In keeping with Levy’s approach at other stadia, they will be donating 10 pence from every sale made in one of the reusable cups to Wolves Foundation.
Wolves Foundation senior manager Tom Warren said: “This is a really important and valuable initiative from our friends at Levy which is supporting both the club and the Foundation in two different areas.
“The introduction of reusable cups in the matchday catering kiosks is a hugely welcome development and helps the club’s ‘One Pack, One Planet’ campaign and commitment to environmental stability.
“On top of that, the donation from each sale involving a reusable cup is set to bring in a substantial figure each season which will be invested directly into Foundation projects supporting people of all ages and abilities across the community.”
