Academy players take part in sustainability workshops

Wolves Academy players recently took part in workshops exploring the relationship between football and climate change.

As part of the club’s One Pack, One Planet sustainability programme, the sessions explored how climate change and sustainability impact football and society, giving players the chance to discuss environmental challenges, see examples from across the game, and imagine a more sustainable future for football.

Hosted by Football For Future, a non-profit driving global climate action through football culture, the workshops encourage players to think critically about their own actions and how they can contribute to change, developing football’s next generation of climate leaders.

The sessions form part of the Premier League’s Life Skills and Personal Development programme, through which each academy has access to a suite of 20 workshops designed to support the holistic development of players.

Natalie Deakin, Wolves’ head of education, said: “By introducing our academy players to climate and sustainability issues, we are helping them understand the impact they can have in driving positive change, on and off the pitch.”

Elliot Arthur-Worsop, founder of Football For Future, said: “Our workshops are all about helping young players understand the challenge and feel empowered to be part of the solution. It’s inspiring the hear the ideas of Wolves Academy players, because climate issues will shape the future of football.”
