Igbinoghene signs professional contract

Testimony Igbinoghene has become the latest Wolves Academy youngster to sign his first professional contract.

Recruited from Manchester City, the left-back joined Wolves as a first-year scholar in the summer of 2022 and quickly became a consistent feature for the under-18s.

A reliable and regular performer, Igbinoghene completed his two-year scholarship at the end of last season and has progressed into the under-21s squad, where his development will continue under the guidance of James Collins and Ian Sharps.

Academy manager for football, Jon Hunter-Barrett, said: “Testimony’s been rewarded with a contract after being a steady performer for the under-18s and has been in the team quite a lot over the last two years.

“His strengths are his techniques and ball management – he’s able to really manage the ball under pressure and he’s a consistent member of the group in terms of his personality and work ethic as a player.”

Hunter-Barrett believes the work as a full-back can, at times, go under the radar, but he has praised Igbinoghene’s consistency while challenging him to increase his levels to ensure he excels at under-21 level.

“Sometimes as a full-back, the hard work can go unnoticed and particularly with the type of role Tess played as a low full-back.

“These types of players can sometimes go under the radar and people might not see them as much, but Testimony has been very consistent.

“The next challenge for him is going to be about really stepping up to earn his place in the under-21s environment and showing us what potential he’s going to have in the future.”
