U21 Report | Liverpool 5-0 Wolves

Wolves under-21s suffered a heavy defeat in the Premier League 2 at the LFC Academy against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts hit five goals in the opening 30 minutes; Clae Ewing, Calvin Ramsay, Kieran Morrison, Will Wright and an own goal from Sahhed Olagunju guided the Reds to victory.

Wolves had to play the majority of the fixture with ten players when Makenzie Bradbury received a straight red card in the 17th minute.

The hosts took an early lead when Ewing’s powerful effort flashed past Alfie Brooks in the second minute.

That advantage was swiftly doubled when Calvin Ramsay headed the ball in from close-range.

With momentum in favour of the Reds, Makenzie Bradbury received a straight red card, and Wolves were reduced to ten for the denial of a goalscoring opportunity.

Moments later, Brooks pulled out a fantastic save from point blank range to deny Liverpool a third.

The Reds swiftly added two more goals through Morrison and Wright, which pushed the game away from Wolves’ reach.

Morrison’s second effort deflected off Saheed Olagunju which gave Liverpool a fifth goal.

Half-time | Liverpool 5-0 Wolves

Wolves managed to delay the flow of Liverpool and managed to create a couple opportunities of their own through Dexter Lembikisa.

The hosts continued to pile on the pressure, but Brooks consistently managed to keep any chances at bay in the second half.

Attacking chances were limited for the Old Gold, but the defensive structure had improved from the first 45 minutes as James Collins’ side looked to find some positivity.
