Destiney Toussaint was overjoyed to contribute with a hat-trick to Wolves Women’s 16-0 victory over Coventry Sphinx on Sunday.
The attacker hopes that it’s the ‘start of many more’ after scoring her first goals of the campaign, helping the Old Gold to a place in the quarter-final where they will meet West Bromwich Albion in a Black Country derby.
On the confident win
“We wanted to come here and do what we do and put on a professional performance.
“Obviously, it’s hard sometimes coming out here in these conditions and we give credit to the opposition as they grafted and worked hard.
“But essentially, we came here and got the job done and got a few goals.”
On scoring a hat-trick in the cup
“It felt so good, it’s been a long time coming to be fair.
“Since I came back from injury, I’ve been waiting to get off the mark and I’m glad I could get that today and hopefully that’s the start of many more.”
On being an attacker in such a ruthless team
“It’s great you know; everyone wants to score goals and get on the scoresheet.
“I thought it was nice today because we had quite a few different goal scorers, which helps everyone in the team as they’re all chipping in.
“So, hopefully we can take that into the coming weeks.”
On keeping a clean sheet
“Keeping a clean sheet was just as important today as we want to keep standards high.
“We want to make sure we come to teams and places like this and dominate the game and I’d say the clean sheet was just as important as scoring the other end for sure.”
On her hopes for the team’s cup run
“Just take each game as it comes. Obviously, we want to go all the way and win the cup, so whoever we get in the next round we will put on another brilliant performance like we did today.”
On facing Sporting Khalsa in the FA Cup on Sunday
“We will prepare well and work hard this week and do what we usually do.
“Khalsa usually give us a good game but we’re back at home and just got to make sure we put in a good performance and get the win that we need and push on into the next round.
“Everyone loves the FA Cup, and anything can happen so it will be a battle but if we do our job, I’m more than confident that we will get the win.”
