Women's Preview | Sporting Khalsa

After a weather disrupted start to 2026 for Wolves Women that has seen them play just two cup games since the turn of the year, Dan McNamara’s side finally return to FA WNL action on Wednesday night when they make the short trip to face local rivals Sporting Khalsa.

With the game set for the artificial surface at Khalsa’s Guardian Warehousing Arena, there is little doubt that the team will finally begin to make up some of their games in hand on title rivals Burnley.

Setting the Scene

Wolves head into the game on Wednesday night seven points behind leaders Burnley, but this fixture is one of three in hand over the Clarets. Wolves have not played since January 25th owing to two weather related postponements and they will hoping to finally bounce back from the cup defeat to West Brom that day.

Sporting Khalsa currently sit bottom of the FA WNL Northern Premier Division but will be hoping to make up some ground on Loughborough Lightning who sit one place above them as well as the seven points that separate them from Derby in 10th. Khalsa last played on the 8th February, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Halifax.
