Wolves Women have the opportunity to put Sunday’s disappointment behind them by making the final of the Birmingham Challenge Cup on Wednesday night as they face West Bromwich Albion at the Alexander Stadium (7.45pm kick-off).
After a first league defeat of the season – 1-0 at Burnley following Georgia Marshall’s controversially ruled out goal – victory in the third Black Country derby of the campaign would secure a place in the final against Rugby Borough and give the squad a huge boost going into the final five league games of the season.
Setting the Scene
This will be the third fixture against the Baggies this season in a third competition having won 3-0 in the league at the Alexander Stadium in December, followed by 1-0 loss at the SEAH Stadium in the quarter-final of the FA WNL Cup in January.
There is no time to dwell for Wolves after Sunday’s defeat as they face a West Brom side buoyed by their 2-1 win over Hull City in the league on Sunday – their third win in five league matches.
How we got here
Wolves have scored 20 goals in their two games in the competition to get to this stage, securing a 12-0 win over Hednesford Town in the second round before an 8-0 win against Birmingham City PGA in the quarter-final.
West Brom beat Leafield Athletic 1-0 in their quarter-final, having previously beaten Boldmere St Michaels 5-1.

The match will take place at the Alexander Stadium, the venue at which Wolves secured a 3-0 win in the league back in December.
