Melisa Filis becomes Part of the Pack

Midfielder Melisa Filis has become Dan McNamara’s third signing of the summer as Wolves Women continue to build their squad ahead of their first-ever professional season.

The 23-year-old arrives in the Black Country following her departure from Italian Serie A Women side Sassuolo and brings with her a wealth of experience, including four senior appearances for Arsenal.

Filis boasts an impressive pedigree across both the WSL and WSL 2, making more than 80 appearances for London Bees, West Ham United and Charlton Athletic.

Born in Essex, the midfielder came through Arsenal’s academy and made her senior debut at the age of 16 in a League Cup tie in December 2018. She followed that with her WSL debut a month later, making an immediate impact by assisting a Katie McCabe goal just 22 seconds after coming on. During that same League Cup campaign, Filis scored her first senior goals for the Gunners, netting a hat-trick against London Bees.

On the international stage, Filis received her first senior call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad in February 2025, adding further experience to an already accomplished career.

Manager Dan McNamara said: "We first saw Mel when we faced West Ham in the FA Cup in January 2023. As a young player I thought she was terrific and showed that day what fantastic potential she had. Three years later, when the opportunity came up to bring her to the club it was an easy decision, given her experience at the top level in England and abroad. She is technically very gifted and we are looking forward to seeing what she can bring on and off the pitch."
